The Project

The Story Blitz Project aims to bring the creativity of game jams to the field of creative writing. At 12:00 AM January 18th, 2025, participants will receive the theme for the blitz and then write a short story inspired by that theme. Participants will then send their stories to storyblitz@dcwynters.com by 11:59 PM on January 20th, 2025. Links to the stories will be posted on dcwynters.com, and from January 21st to February 11th, the public will have the opportunity to read and vote for the stories they like. The author of the story with the most votes by the end of February 11th will receive a $50 cash prize via Venmo.

How to Participate

Authors

Fill out the form below to receive the Story Blitz theme on January 18th.

Stories should be original work produced during the event. The submission of AI-generated stories is prohibited. If you would like to submit the story for consideration to the contest, you will first need to format it. The file you send to storyblitz@dcwynters.com should fulfill the following requirements:

• PDF extension
• 1″ margins
• 12 pt serif font
• Double spaced
• Title is centered at the top of the first page in 24 pt font that matches the manuscript font
• Author name is centered below the title in italicized 18 pt font that matches the manuscript font
• Page numbers are centered at the bottom of the page

Your submission will not be proofread, so it is in your best interest to do so before submitting your story. The subject line of your email should read “[Author Name] Story Blitz Submission.”

By submitting your story you are agreeing to allow dcwynters.com to distribute copies of your story at no cost and without digital rights management protection. You retain all other rights to the story.

In the future, the Story Blitz Project may compile and publish an anthology of submissions which would be sold to finance the project. If you would like your story to be included in such an anthology, please note that in your submission email.

You may vote for as many stories as you like, though you may only vote once for each story. You do not need to read all of the stories in order to vote. Authors may vote for their own stories. You are encouraged to share stories on social media.
